FALIERO SARTI

Monica Sarti was born into a sensory world dominated by the colours and fragrances of wool and the rhythmic workings of the machinery of the Lanificio Faliero Sarti. The family business, established in 1948 in Campi Bisenzio (Florence) by her grandfather, was from the very start specialised in the production of wool, cashmere, angora, silk and linen fabrics for high fashion and ready-to-wear that were sold to top maison all over the world. In the early nineties, when the sun finally set on 80s maximalism, Monica Sarti turned her attention to a sector of the business that her family considered of little importance, scarves, so she creates L’Accessorio. Monica started by eliminating the classic fringes and then brought her little revolution full circle by replacing heaviness with softness. The quintessential raw material, cashmere, was boiled and then subjected to processes and treatments that completely altered the appearance of the fabric. The results was amazing. For the first time lightness became warmth and the Faliero Sarti scarf became a contemporary fashion accessory, immediately appreciated in the most exclusive boutiques and department stores in world.
